8 Days Ride in the Land of Spas&Fine Wines

Discover Hungary’s incredible landscape, gastronomy, fine wines and famous spa towns by bicycle, ride alongside the Tour de Hongrie – the country’s national cycling race!

Spend your holiday actively, and be a part of a tour that is every rider’s dream! Spoil yourself in 4 star hotels and with thermal spa visits. Hungary’s three famous thermal spas are included in the route. Try the local wine, food, highlights of Lake Balaton, and take in the wonderful panorama of the Danube bend! Cheer on the participants of the national cycling race!

Route: Budapest (1 night) – transfer – Zalakaros (2 nights) – Little Balaton – Keszthely – Hévíz (1 night) – Káli basin – Balatonfüred (2 nights) – Tata – Esztergom – Visegrád hills – Visegrad (2 nights) – Budapest (1 night)

Doesn’t matter if you are an amateur athlete or recreational cyclist, we offer different levels during the tour:

  • 4 point-to-point days: 50-100 km rides on roadbike.
  • 4 facultative days: you can ride “hard”, take a recreational distance, or just pleasure. We offer a lot of optional activities!

Total distance is 5-700 kms, Desnivel: 4-5000 meters

The 2590 EUR price includes:

  • Accommodation in 4 star hotels, breakfasts and dinners
  • Special dinners, and wine tasting

  • Transfers, transportation, including luggages and bicycles

Schedule

  • August 11 Saturday: Arrive to Budapest at any time during the day and meet your crew and fellow cyclists at our welcome dinner
  • August 12 Sunday: In the morning we will have our transfer to Zalakaros. In the afternoon after a bikecheck we will go for a ride to the lake and the surrounding vineyards - chance to taste the local wines.
  • August 13 Monday: Morning bike ride to the Zala hills and Little Balaton region, peppered with steep ascents. In the afternoon we will have the option to visit the thermal spring.
  • August 14 Tuesday: Morning ride to Keszthely, in the afternoon we will visit the famous Hévíz thermal lake.
  • August 15 Wednesday: Ride to Balatonfüred through the Káli basin. Free time in the evening.
  • August 16 Thursday: Morning cycling in the hills surrounding the lake; options for distance. Beach time in the afternoon and free evening.
  • August 17 Friday: Morning transfer to Lake Tata followed by a bikeride to Esztergom. Option to choose our route - hilly or flat - to Visegrád.
  • August 18 Saturday: Morning bike ride around the hills of Visegrád and Pilis. Free time in the afternoon: use the summer bob sleigh, or visit the Castle or stroll along bank of the Danube.
  • August 19 Sunday: Morning departure to Budapest where we will cheer on the Tour’s participants at the finish line. Visit one of the historic spas of Budapest and finish the day with a good bye dinner followed by a party.
  • August 20 Monday: Departure day; leave the city any time

BUDAPEST: Budapest needs no introduction. The crown jewel of Hungary, also known as the “Paris of the East”. This pulsating city is the perfect blend of historical and modern, and has something to offer for everyone.

ZALAKAROS: One of the tiniest cities of Hungary is famous for its thermal bath. Its hot spring is situated in romantic settings; rolling hills and beautiful vineyards pepper the horizon.

HEVIZ: The town is famous for being the home of the second largest thermal lake of the world. Famed for its healing properties, the lake offers both indoor and outdoor bathing options in addition to many medical and spa treatments. Another selling point is its proximity to Lake Balaton.

KESZTHELY: The biggest town around the Lake Balaton has an excellent location for exploring the region. Situated between the famous wine region of Badacsony and the renowned spa town of Heviz it has plenty to offer for both water and wine lovers.

BALATONFURED: The town is not only a famed yachting destination, but is also preferred by the lovers of history, entertainment, and fine dining. It is a hub for tourism, with many options to offer for the active visitor.

ESZTERGOM: Home of the biggest church of Hungary, its cathedral is the seat of Catholicism in Hungary. The town’s historical town center makes it one of the most beautiful cities of the Danube bend, which forms a natural border with Slovakia. If you walk across the bridge you find yourself in a whole another country!

VISEGRAD: Is a small town, situated in the beautiful Danube Bend. The place is famous for its historical castle complex and citadel on top of the hill. Those who make it up the hill can enjoy the majestic view over the river and the tiny villages dotting the hills.
